I'm looking for a place I visited in Paris?

I remember there were a ton and I mean a TON of outside stairs that we had to go up, and when we got to the top to the right was a church or chapel of some sort. There were also shops up and around there. I know the church was very old, but I don't remember the names of any shops or anything. Does anyone have a clue as to what I'm describing?

  1. Definitely Montmartre and Sacre Couer

  2. That sounds like Creve Cour

  3. Yes, you're talking about Montmartre, La Place du Tertre, Le Sacré Coeur, all that area has hundreds of stairs. The basilica (Sacré Coeur) is at the top of the hill of Montmartre. Just next to it, is the Place du Tertre where the impressionists used to gather. Now, it's a very touristic place... and from Place du Tertre, go anywhere, and you'll find stairs. Have fun!

  4. Sacre Coeur is at the top of Montmartre Hill and was built in 1914 but not consecrated until 1919. It's famous white-architecture dominates the city. It is well worth taking the 234 steps to the top of the dome for beautiful views across Paris, but it is definitely hard-going!

  5. Maybe the sacred heart?

  6. It sounds like you walked up the steps of Montmartre to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur. Was there a funicular (an inclined railway) that also went up? If so then its definitely Montmartre.
