  1. i would go with garmen! i like mine very much, and its an older one, about 2 years! now they have touch screens about 3 inches big or so! with maps that cover the whole US! also, make it an investment! spend the extra buck to get the one that fits u! if you don't you will be disapointed! good luck!

  2. I only used a GPS once in Pittsburgh. It is full of awkward streets you have to avoid being on the wrong sides of mountains and 3 rivers. The Tom Tom I used was perfect and the reroutes were quick and effective. Not to mention it had a ton of points of interest to help me find places to go.

  3. It really depends on what you want it to do.  All of the Garmin Nuvi's are designed to be portable but only have Auto navigation preloaded.  There are also several handhelds that are designed for hiking and some have topo maps preloaded there are others that have GPS and 2 way radio capabilities.  You might look into the Garmin Colorado, Oregon, Rino and GPSMap series as well as the Magellan Tritons.  Also Garmin has 2 new models scheduled to come out some time in November that will have everything in one.  The Nuvi 550 and Nuvi 500
