Question

I can't remember all of it, but it went something like this:

If you are sad, then it's not the end. It's only the end once you're happy

Something about how if you are sad, then it's not the end, but it's the end once you're happy.

Although it was more poetic then what I said.

I am not at all sure that these are more poetic than your "version," but several sites show the following  quotations:  

"Everything will be okay in the end. if it's not okay, it's not the end."  

"Everything is always ok in the end; if it's not then it's not the end." Unfortunately, the author is unknown.

Note:  It seems to be a very popular quote for bloggers.
