My 2nd cousin is getting bat mizvahed. Her family has a LOT of money so I don't want to get her a present. I would rather make a donation in her name to a really great Israeli Children's charity, possibly helping a poor Israeli girl or boy get bar/bat mitzvahed, you know, maybe giving him/her a little party their family couldn't afford. Or any charity dealing with the poverty situation for children in Israel. Anyone know of a great, reputable charity?

  1. Why only Israeli's only. Why not an Indian promoting chess as learning tool?

  2. The "One Family Fund" helps Israeli victims of terror.  They have many divisions, including a "youth division" that has a Bar and Bat Mitzvah Twinning program.  This program allows donors to provide financial help to pay for the costs of a Bar or Bat Mitzvah celebration for a child harmed by terrorism.  The cost is a bit steep ($1,800) so you might want to collaborate with some other family memebers if this is out of your budget.

Another really cool thing is that the foundation will actually give you the name of the recipient and encourages communication, so your cousin can make a connection with a child in Israel.
