Question:

I'm looking for advice on running a hydro-swing windrower when all I've ever ran are self propelled kind?

My Dad usually comes up and cuts my river pasture, but he says it's time I learn which I'm looking forward to, but turning around looks complicated. I've baled and put the hay away for years so that's not a problem. I know how to run the self propelled (my old boss had those) so I can change sickle blades, grease, unplug, etc. I wish I were learning in a nice square field, but the pasture has a river through it so all the areas to cut are odd shaped.

I sure don't want to wreck Dad's equipment by hitting fences, trees, or putting the windrower in the river! LOL I know he'll ride with me the first few rounds, then as soon as he leaves, something will happen! Any advice, pointers, or tips would be appreciated! Thanks!

  1. i raked a odd shape pasture today for the first time dont worry about it just watch the side where something is. It is ok if you go over a another windrow the baler has to go where you go

  2. You won't have a problem.

You just driver the tractor along beside the mown hay and swing the rake frame so it runs over the hay as you drive.

Just like running an old bailer

  3. well since i have no idea what that mean, i would suggest going to the extra terrestrial category...they might know
