I have a super busy schedule but am ready to go back to classes online. I would like to teach pre-school one day. Any online schools you can suggest?

  1. There are many universities that offer online classes depending on where you are located. I am in Ca and a few of the cal states have ECE programs with online classes. I know National University offers an online ECE bachelor's.  They are an accredited University and many educators have gone there for their degrees and credentials. I went there for a Degree in Psychology and took many of the ECE classes!

I would not go as far as previous poster to say that online degrees are useless. I just got my Bachelors and although I took the majority of my classes on campus a few I did take online and they were okay.  They are not going to do a very good job and teaching you how to teach, but I would get a job in a preschool while you are getting the degree because no schooling gives you in classroom experience like teaching! If that is not an option, try to visit as many preschools as you can. Your online degree will make you go and do field experience.

Good Luck!! Getting your degree is worth it!! And although preschool does pay as well as k-12 it is a wonderful field that is in need of educated teachers!!

BTW, If you take out loans, when you get your degree in ECE and if you work in state preschool you can get 30 percent of it paid for you

  2. Online degrees are worthless when it comes to Education. You really need to attend a traditional university (and most offer MANY classes online). I don't mean to be harsh, but everyone is busy, you just need to know where your priorities lie. I've been going to school for years (part-time), pursing an Education degree. It's what's in my heart and I love student teaching, therefore, I make the needed sacrifices. Pre-school does not offer the pay or benefits that a public school system offers. I would reconsider that. If you do want to stick with pre-school, then you wouldn't need a 4 year degree to max out at $20k annual salary.

  3. I have taken some Master's classes in ECE on-line and found them to be very stimulating.  I learned a great deal and am anxious to go back.  On-line learning isn't for everyone because you do have to have a certain amount of self-motivation to really get a lot out of it, but I found them to be high quality courses.

My daughter attends Clarion University of Pennsylvania.  It's a great school.  She actually attends there, but they also have an on-line AA degree in ECE.  I highly recommend it.  I have talked to several daycare workers who are currently enrolled and I can tell you - these are thorough, high quality classes.  I'm sure there are others, but I am most familiar with this one.
