I'm looking for charities to start funding/donating to in the philadelphia area. any suggestions?

preferably charities that sponsor events i can attend. i am looking for a mutual benefit here -- support a good cause, while networking and making contacts.

Small local museums may fit the bill. Make a large enough donation and you can have an exhibit in your name.

Almost all professional athletes are involved with a favorite charity.  A list of players from these teams, with player biographies, will tell you who and what they support and maybe why.

Contact them (through the team or through the charity) to open a dialog.  Perhaps several players, maybe from different teams, support the same charity.  By opening these doors, you will find both a worthy recipient for you funds and sponsorship as well as an excellent venue for networking.
