I have a really old small Evinrude outboard engine that needs new piston rings. Does anybody know of a site where I can order custom made rings? The sites I have found, are either having problems with there suppliers or want an order of 50 or more.

  1. Get it punched out  over to a standard size.  If the outboard has to be rebuilt it will have to be punched out to a larger bore or sleeved to a smaller bore, or both.  The cylinders are most likely scored or damaged somehow.  Get it machined out for a common size.  Good Luck.

  2. Alright, check it out. If you have the heads off & there is no major scoring or damage to the cyl walls then your alright as far as sleeves or boring it out goes. You DO NOT need custom made rings!!! If you are planning on doing the job yourself you will need to disassemble the Powerhead (block) & take off the old rings. If reusing the same pistons (check to make sure they are still good, not worn down on one side or scared, & clean out the old grooves the Rings went in, There is a Tool that you can buy to check what size you need, & If it is still stock, not bored out or resleeved then you should contact the site below & I can garrenty that they will have the rings for your Evinrude in Stock & can ship to you if nessicary. The name of the Company is Stone & Sons Marine a Family ran business for over 70yrs now I believe, Located in Houston, Texas. They specialize in Old & discontinued parts for Evinrude Johnson & many other brands of Motors. contact them with your Model# & you will recieve all the help you need! :)

  3. Try contacting the folks at this link listed below. They have found many odd sized rings for me over the past few years for a lot of my antique outboard motor collection. They are very nive to deal with .
