  1. The Valley Zoo is always free for the last hour. And frankly, that's all the time you need for it.

The "Ledge" is always good for the kids (Alberta Legislature building). You can play in the chlorinated fountains and splash pools for free. Always very busy on a warm day.

There are also numerous festivals and other events that are free:

  2. West Edmonton Mall is your one-stop shopping and entertainment centre.  There is lots to do there.  Some activities are expensive.  But, there are some that are more affordable.  Check their website to find out more.

  3. The West Edmonton Mall can be a fairly expensive day with kids, but there are a lot of nice parks to go to and Edmonton has lots of festivals in the summer.

  4. Where will you be staying. I am in the north end . Castle downs to be exact and there is a spray park with a skateboard park there as well. It is buy the YMCA.  It is free there is also a green shack program there that the kids can do crafts and pictures maybe bubbles. That can be an all day thing. Just up the street there is a little ceasars pizza and you can pick up there hot and ready for a cheap lunch or pack a lunch. On friday night the A&W on 137 street  and maybe 126th ave they always have a cruise night where there are a bunch of vintage cars that park there.the a&w usually have some kind of a special on floats or something. You can go to the mall and spend the day there. There are somethings that aren't too bad. They used to have earlybird pricing for minigolf there if you play before 11 or something like that. If you are around on a Tuesday night you can go to Big Al Fish on the south side for there shark feed. It is free and I think it is at 7pm. Go to Ikea. John Janson Center next to fort Edmonton. You could also do Fort Edmonton. My children enjoy that. They like to ride on the train which is included in your admission. If you are in on a saturday, sometimes you can go to west ed mall to the water park. Groups and clubs will rent the park and then sell tickets for usually $10 or less the park is only open for 3 hours but it is cheap there usually is a long table set up by the escalators. If you go to the city's website there should be a pamphlet that you can download that lists things free or next to free to do in the city, edmonton.ca.If you are wanting to spend a day doing somethings that will give you the biggest bang for your buck you could check out millenium park in sherwood park. Family admission is around $20 and that gets you into the pool, indoor skating, indoor playground and I think a rock wall. That is all that I can think of for now hope that it helps.
