I need some references for a college that will do a correspondence course w\me for a dental assistant. I want to do college at home without going online. What college will mail in books? I need info very soon.

Hello, OK...While I can understand what you would like to achieve, let me say that your job prospects when you complete what ever course of study you find will be fruitless...being a dental Assistant requires far more educational and hands on training than is possible from a book....fact is, it's impossible. Yes you can acquire a certain amount of academic knowledge through a correspondence course but, in the end, none of that will get you employment if you can't hands on apply it in a real working scenario...Would you want to fly with a pilot who learned to fly from a book? Would you want to let a doctor perform a surgical procedure who's only knowledge of the procedure was from reading a book? If you were in labor and someone said to you, "I'll deliver your baby, I've never done it before, but I read how to do it in a book"?....Being a safe, competent Dental Assistant requires not only academic learning, it requires intense "hands on training and experience" with regard to knowing how to identify various dental instruments and understanding what they are used for.You must hands on learn how to use various instruments during specific dental procedures and you must have hands on training with regard to mixing various dental materials for various dental procedures...So, if you really want to be a qualified Dental Assistant, begin your training by enrolling in a local Community College or Career School that teach's Dental Assisting....After you complete that training be prepared to get real training experience when you find a dental office to work in.....Good luck and I wish you well.
