What I need to know is where do I begin this journey? My mom has some details. But not many. Of course we have his birthdate, and the hospital he was born. She actually named him, but for some reason I don't believe the hospital kept it. So what to do?I'm now 41 and he's 39 and I need to find him. And his biological father is deceased(37 yrs ago). So that's that. I would like only serious anwers, please. Oh...I'm in Los Angeles if that'll make a difference.

  1. Soundex is good. But it took me 36 years to find my son. I did it myself using zabasearch.com and putting in his birth name. He did keep it. I thought he was in my state but he had moved so I found him in texas on Mothers Day two years ago. It is a miracle. Good luck!

  2. can you edit to add what state he was surrendered in :) and I'll post you a couple of things you can do, like submit a waiver to release your information if he comes looking to the agency. Sign up w/ your states registry, apply for his non identifying information... hmm... thats about all I know for searchers from the natural families side to adoptee.

  3. Register with as many reunion registries as possible.  ISRR is probably the largest and the State your brother was born and adopted in may run a registry too and siblings should be allowed to register (depends on which State)

I attended a search group for in California, they meet every month in Mountainview. Give the guy a call - he has all the info you'll need

    Neil Kelley

    Adoptees Identity Discovery

    PO Box 2159

    Sunnydale, CA 94087

    408-737-2222

I wish you all the luck in the world.

  4. Try the Soundex Reunion Registry; they're on-line.  You might also google the phrase "search angel"+brother's state of relinquishment.  Search angels are amazing people who will help you do a search for free.  "Shea's Search Series" (Google will help you find this) may be helpful too.

    Good luck.

  5. You'll want to register with the ISSR. Here's their website: http://www.isrr.net/

Check out all the on line reunion registries. Just google "adoption reunion" and you'll get many. Look for him and register with them.

Those are the two things I can think of that are free. There's always private investigators. Good luck with your search.

  6. I am the youngest of 4 adopted children, 3 of us have made contact with our B-families.  My brothers b-family found him.  We all went through the agency we were adopted through.  They do charge you, but it is the most effective way.  I was registered on all the sites & never got any hits for a very long time.  The agency handle the matter very well, at least ours did.  Start there, & see what they can do & how much it will cost you.  My brothers b-sister did the search for him as a surprise for his parents.  Just make sure you are all ready for ANY outcome!  If you are not, it can be very painful.

Best of luck, & try to be patent.

  7. There are firms that specialize in finding people for a set cost of a couple hundred dollars. Never pay an investigator hourly to find someone. I think that's your best bet.

    Hope you find him.

  8. register with your state or agency involved. register with isrr.org and contact vsn.org (volunteer search network) for free help! Good luck!

  9. If he was born in CA, it may be easier to find him than you think.  CA birth records are online at ancestry.com.  If he was born in LA county, though it will be a little more difficult.  Here is what I recommend you do.

register first with isrr.net (not .com!)

then look at online adoption registries such as

    registry.adoption.com

    findme.org

    and g's adoption registry

    http://100megsfree3.com/levgen/data.html

If you do not find him on any of those or any other online registries that you find, please register with g's adoption registry.  You can find the link with any search engine.

This site has many resources for locating CA adoptees.

    Good luck

  10. yea it called a closed adotion sometimes that can happen. what is your mothers name and fathers name if you hape that and the date and the year that might be able to help you. good luck

  11. if its loma linda hosp that is easy place to maybe find your borter. but if you can't find them there call the social security office and tell them about the health and finding him and stuff give them the name you had and it will be cross referenced then. maybe they will help you if you need medical to be found. soemtimes they will try harder. good luck
