Check out Volunteermatch.org.  You can search by zip code (60188 for Carol Stream), distance, interest area (eg, seniors, community, race/ethnicity, education/literacy, crisis support, etc), and even target demographic (kids, teens, seniors, groups).  

You could also try the Carol Stream government.  They have a department of Social Services that might be able to give you some direction.  Or you could call the village main number; village manager; or village clerk.
