  1. The biggest swords ever made, were the Scottish claymores.  Some were as long as a whopping 6 feet, and could get as heavy as 10 lbs but trust me on this, swinging around a 4 lb "sword" is tough enough.  See, its a leverage thing; 4 lbs does not sound like very much, but keep in mind how you hold a sword.  You are holding it in a way that your arm muscles are not at their strongest when moving around that weight, meaning when you swing it around, in reality its like moving 40 lbs.  That is, the angle of holding a Japanese sword, or a bokken, or a Suburito, makes it so that for every lb the sword weighs, to your muscles it feels like 10 lbs per lb.

So, a 20 lb sword would feel like you are moving around 200 lbs.  Also; a lot of Scotsmen are indeed huge.  There is a reason why the Caber toss is a popular sport over there, most men are large and strong enough to handle it.  In fact, that funny-as-h**l Samurai Jack cartoon?  I thought it was right on the money; I did not think they were exagerating.

Okay joking around aside though; Scotsmen have long been known to be the strongest men of the British isles.  Many of them like I said, are huge men, so its easy for them to handle 6 foot long 10 lb swords.  Or it was for their ancestors anyway.  To swing around a 4 lb suburito 20 times, is like swinging around a 40 lb weight 20 times.  It all has to do with the extremely inconvenient angle.

Think for a second; you grab the center of a barbell, arms evenly spaced, weight evenly distributed, 100 lbs is no problem.  Try picking up a barbell though, only from the first 10 inches.  Good luck with that.

if you want a heavy sword, you should look for a dull-edge claymore replica, the biggest you can find although I doubt, for safety reasons, that they sell anything much bigger than 4.5 feet.  Also, unless you happen to be of Scottish ancestry and have the size and muscularity to handle it, I wouldn't try it.

    good luck.

  2. Shinotshu

  3. There are no swords that weigh more than 4-5 pounds. They would be unusable. The sword you are referring to is from a dopey anime and is not real.
