The few I know are "Gobsmacked" for surprised, "Anti clockwise" for "counter clockwise" and I think "fries" are known as "chips".

What are some others or where on line could I find some others?

  1. Fortnight = 2 weeks.

    Car park = parking lot

    grill = broil

    stone = 14 pounds in weight

    (you would say "I weigh 145 lbs", we say "I weigh 10 stone 5 lbs")

  2. "what's up"

  3. And Bob's your Uncle.

  4. Hey there's loads

    BRITISH                 AMERICAN

    Footpath     -            Sidewalk

    Motorway     -           Highway

    Flabbergasted -       speechless/stunned

    Dogg it/bunk off -     Skip classes

    Dingied                -   Ignored (Maybe that's just a Glaswegian)

    Also

    "...and Bob's you uncle" - whenever given an explanation of something you add that at the end.

    Joe bloggs means your average Joe
