  1. maybe a game or somehthin but you could give them an american sports team jersey

  2. no DVD or books.. in Italy there ARE DVD and ALL are both in Italian and English( and Spanish,German and French..in 1 DVD)!!

you could try with some American food, marshmallows to roast for kids (they don't exists in Italy) or seasons candy(is true, there aren't)...

could send some American sport items (American football, baseball and basketball)...

  3. In Italy they don't have seasonal candies such as valentine's day sweethearts, easter eggs, halloween pumpkin candies, or candycorn.  That might be a good option.

If anyone is learning English books and magazines would also be another great idea.

  4. For the 6 yr old girl - get Polly Pocket dolls or accessories - they have them there but not the selection that we do - for example they only have the ones with plastic hair.  She will love it!

the parents - get them the toothpaste  (is it crest or colgate) that have the listerine breath strips in them - I send them to my cousins and they go crazy for it.

I send my aunt baking powder because she says the one they have has some kind of smell or taste to it.

and pancake mix is another big thing my family goes crazy for since they do not have that there - send them that and syrup (make sure you pack it good).

the 13 yr old - maybe a baby tee, or trendy clothes that have english words on it.

Cute PJ's from the Disney Store

Go to like a "Things Remembered" and get some c**p like a frame or something with stuff engraved.  they engrave over there, but it is like such a big deal and pain in the you know what.  They have to bring the item to a special place and bla blah blah.  Whenever someone gets married we send either engraved flutes, or engraved frames.   They have this big heart frame suspended on this hanger that I got engraved for a newlywed couple, and after that all the newlyweds made me send them one.

  5. Books, magazines, DVDs with the recent HBO series. It is sooo frustrating not to get your stuff. Italian DVDs are behind one or two years on the stuff you get in the US, and the american shows don't get here (boxed sets). Pick up a selections, such as Desperate Housewifes, or Rome (they are on italian TV, but only in Italian), or Wired, or Grey's Anatomy... Entourage...

Better yet, install a Sling-box on your TV, and offer them on-line TV from home. They'll be THRILLED.

If they are american, you can also think of SHEET in the correct size (bed sizing is different in Italy), in a good count - you can find good deals on 600 counts at Marshalls or TJ.

If the family is italian and not american, avoid all the american foods as they aren't appreciated (mac&cheese will end up in the bin), but go to a Gap store and buy a bunch of cute Ts for the kids.

  6. a 3 liter bottle of Faygo Redpop for the kids, and a carton of American Spirit Cigarettes for the adults.

  7. My brother lives in Italy and there are things that he request that I send to him every year. I always send ranch dressing, creamy italian dressing, mac n cheese for his girls, sweet-tarts and oreos. Other things that he wants are Nikes, golf shoes, bath and body works for the girls and barbies.... just a thought.

  8. I spent a semester in Italy while in college.  There were many American things, especially food, that I missed a lot because they were no where to be found in Italy.  I would send Doritos, salsa, peanut butter, peanut anything (they barely eat peanuts in Italy), real granola, mac n cheese, tea, canned chili, basically any non-perishable Mexican food you can find - I missed Mexican food soooo much there and you can't find anything even close to it in Italy.  Other nice things to send would be DVDs and books, since it can be hard to find those in English in Italy.  If you know there's a particular kind of cosmetic or toiletry product your friends like, send that - although generally the selection of those items in Italy is pretty good.

  9. It could sounds weird, but... clothes! For a teenager, a real american shirt that you can't find in Italy is something everybody notice at school!! I remeber a friend that returned from California with a lot of cool stuff!! For a 6 year girl maybe some toy, a puppet, or a new barbie...  I don't know what a 40 year person may like... a book?

  10. Hmmm...What about a copy of Farenheit 9-11?
