I'm looking for unusual architectural ideas.?

By unusual, I mean things like hidden doors, bookcases that swing open, etc.

fireman's pole, huge pocket doors to open the entire room to the outdoors, solar panels as overhangs, roof top garden, glass floors with water running under, etc.  Just remember, at the end of the day, you still have to tie it all together with a central theme.

I saw in a cob house they had made a floor-level fireplace and placed a seating area right on top of it. That was unusual. Also, I once saw an outside shower facing up a ravine. That was unusual. And lest not forget the fun hidden rooms alot of builders are putting above their garages nowadays.

I love the idea of a ship's ladder that leads you up to a hidden loft that connects 2 rooms...It would be really fun for siblings that have rooms next to each other.

I also saw a bathroom once that had, instead of a sink, a piece of slate sloping towards the wall that terminated into a trough built into the wall.
