I'm looking into buying a new digital camera. Any suggestions for good/bad ones?

I currently own a Kodak that is 4MP and I've had for about 4 years. It has had some issues. I'm looking to spend around $150 or less as I'll be using it around home, family vacations and in a classroom. Any suggestions on cameras that you've had good/bad luck with would be helpful. I'm thinking around 8MP. Thanks!

    excellent.

    pros:

Excellent image quality; solid build quality; speedy performance; optical viewfinder; face detection

Measuring just 19.4mm thick, the Canon Digital IXUS 70 is the slimmest compact camera in Canon's extensive lineup. Inspired by the original IXUS model, the new Canon IXUS 70 offers a 7.1 megapixel sensor, 3x zoom lens equivalent to 35-105mm, and a 2.5 inc...

The Canon Digital IXUS 70 is a stylishly retro, well-made, responsive point-and-shoot digital camera that successfully recalls the original IXUS design and which thankfully doesn't sacrifice substance for style. The IXUS 70 is a tiny and slim camera that is materpiece.

Canon Powershot SD750 / IXUS 75 is next model of this series but not that good.

these r the 2 only models in ur budget.

these series r known as IXUS these r royal series of canon with image quality they provide classy looks as well.

VERDICT: GO FOR Canon Powershot SD1000 / IXUS 70

  3. i would check out walmart for some sales

i got my digi about a mounth ago and it's great

but i tcost like 200 for the camera and the chip but with out the chip it cost about 146ish i think. its a fujifilm. also if you live in canada or have a londondrugs around try ther too . also don't be afraid to ask for help.

  4. Most places have a Canon 470 on sale for less than that.  It comes in different colors on the face of the unit.  It is slightly bigger than a true pocket camera but has great features and take high quality pictures.  It can handle a 2G card for movies near one hour and over 800 pictures, or a combination of both.  Have bought 3 for the kids and not had a bad picture from any.

  5. I recommend the Panasonic Lumix TZ.

It has an awesome zoom, image stabilization and a fast shutter.

I used to have a Canon Powershot and a Sony Cybershot and I love the Lumix the best.

  6. I highly recommend the Olympus Stylus. Even though its $400 its totally worth it. First of all its 10.1 MP which is very good and since you said you will be using it on vacations and classroom use this camera is perfect! Its very water resistant up to 33' and is shock resistant from something around 6'. In the manual it even recommends holding it under water to clean the lens.
