  1. www.craigslist.com

Look at them there and you'll have a good idea of what you can expect. They DO hold value well, but not THAT well. There is a bike out there for anyone who wants to ride. Probably one in your area too. Everyone can find something wrong with a bike. I will say this though, there are as many Harleys out there for sale as all the others conbined. Someone is dissatisfied with those bikes.

  2. Ante up 12,000 to 14000 and get a good one while youre at it. You haven't lived till you've busted flat in Baton Rouge, or Allanta or Yellowstone. or Dawson. Newness equates to lower incidence of breakdown. Spend a few more bucks.

  4. Get an R1, it has so much power it will confuse you.

Not to mention drain the blood from you eyes to the back of your head...

  5. 10K???  not likely unless you go mid 90s models,,,,they hold their value well.

  6. Any of the "big twins" would be good.  You should be able to find a 2002/2003/2004 bike with low miles without much trouble.

Just get one that hasn't had any engine modifications and you should be ok.

  7. I just sold a 99 Road King for $11 1/2K. It that gives you any ideas. Try Zepka HD, Johnston, Pa.  814-262-7777. They have about 140 used bikes. Hope that helps.
