I will have my Master's in social and maybe my PMA degree( I might finish my MPA degree in florida). I'm a young black man in my 20's looking to work in diverse communities, especially with troubled youths. I'm not looking for a ghetto to move to with high crimes, but rather, I'm looking for nice communities that are diverse and descent cost of living, near the beach. Since i'm starting out, I'm looking for rent between $500-600, close by the beach, but most importantly, WORK. Are there alot of opportunities for social workers in the community that you are recommneding? Lastly, I've heard alot of good things about Jacksonville and it seems descent but are there good opportunities for social work there and is the university near by? If you live there and practice social work, please contact me. I want to make the right decisions and plan accordingly because i'm coming all the way from New York. 1. University of North Florida is in Jacksonville.

You might want to look into the University of Central Florida outside Orlando and the University of South Florida in Tampa also.  The job markets might be better there.

As for Jacksonville, a year ago, it was the murder capital of the state.  But that title bounces back and forth between Miami, Orlando and Jacksonville.

I doubt you will find a decent apartment for $500-600 a month unless you are sharing the place with someone else.

  2. shift here in fort lauderdale

  3. A GREAT place to live which is only 15 minutes away from the beach is pensacola...there are alot of open jobs for you and it is a great place and trust me..not a ghetto town
