Before you make any decisions, get a Charlotte newspaper (probably Sunday edition is best) and check out the job market.  Prepare some resumes and send them off to potential employers there, requesting interviews.  Make a short trip to Charlotte and interview/apply for jobs - and check out the costs of living there:  rent, transportation, etc.  Also, become familiar with its public transit system (if any) so you know what areas would be most convenient to move to if you would need to make use of public transportation.

Do a little on-the-spot investigating before deciding what you want to do.  Don't go into it blind.

OMG!! Is that where the ice cream is from. You should so totally move there, maybe there'll be an ice cream factory there! Factory jobs and free ice cream. Yay!!
