I'm looking to sell my car?

I'm thinking of selling my car...it's a 1995 Chevy Cavalier 2 Door Coupe. It's a 5 speed, gets excellent mileage, has 164,000 miles and new plugs, wires, alternator, clutch and oill change. Little rust on the left rear quarter panel but nothing a little elbow grease can't fix. Runs great, haven't had any problems with it, I just really want an automatic. What do you think my asking price should be...KBB says $1,055 but I've put a lot into it and think I should ask for more. Please help! I've never sold a car before :)

  1. Spend $100 for cars.com and autotrader.com, list the car for $1,500. Also try craigslist because its free. If someone offers you $1,250 or more than take the money and run.

    Thanks

  3. You normally cannot recoupe any money out into your car (after market parts).  That is why it is NOT an investment - it is an expense.

STart with KBB value + 10% to 20% extra.  And start negotiating down.

Just remember to get CASH or bank check.  NO EXCEPTIONS !!

If you decide to take bank check - make sure you GO WITH the buyer to the bank and watch him buy the check.  This way you know he DID NOT just print it up on a color printer at home.

    Good Luck....

  4. What you have done is commendable, but it's only routine maintenance that you won't get anything extra for.  Of course you can put any asking price you like, but there isn't much chance you will get it.
