I have a 2003 dodge 2500 with the 5.7L Hemi. I've heard how much better gas mileage the gear swaps can give you, and I'd like to get in on that. I have 37"x13.5"x17" Toyo Tires. I have the quad cab and the long bed with a 6" lift. What would be the best gear swap for gas mileage? I don't mind losing top speed as my programmer I installed on it switched top speed out anyways... and realistically I'd be stupid to drive that truck past 100 anyways.

  1. Since there is only 2 choices 410 & 373> And at around a $1000. per each end that's a  lot of gas you could by> > The difference in the 2 is around a 1000 RPM but if you change tires then your turning to many  Rpm>

  2. sell your dodge, any added weight is sure to cause more problems to the drivetrain, and I'm not saying that to be biased against dodge, i've worked at numerous dealerships and garages and seen way too many problems with dodge, especially with oversized tires

  3. i got a 01 model truck like yours almost, and i went from 4:10 to 4;56  gears in it,and it helped it a lot,i cant drive it one the freeway much anyway, but on street driving it helped it,i think that's what you,ll need running that size of a tire check out ricmond gears, they have a good price on those, thats where mine came from, good luck.

  4. Either 4.10's or 4.56's. I would probably get 4.56's. Thats what a bunch of people run with big tires on these trucks. Good luck.
