I'm making a film that I want to look like it was made in the 80's what kind of film software should I use

I'm making this film that need to look dated, like 70's, 80's, 90's television dated, but I want to make it really look that way, I don't mean like your computers crappy Windows Movie Maker, I don' want to even be able to tell that its new. What kind of film software would be best to use?

its a matter of shooting clean video (no effects) and then putting filters in when you are in the edit suite.

depending on your software application there is a bunch of plug ins available to give that old style look.

have a look ata  few 80's movies and tv shows and get a reference for your editor. s/he should be able to match it well.

Search on youtube for "cinelerra" a free video editor for examples and tutorials. I would guess what you want to do will take post-production rendering. Those 70s shows, like "The Streets of San Francisco", were the first movies shot just using available-light films. Even so, I think it was 128-ASA and they pushed it to 400-ASA. They are so high-contrast, even outdoors or in a lit sound stage (like a detective office) that I cringe to think about them. Oftentime you'd see just a white face bobbing around. The trenchcoat blended in with the shadows.

I do know cinelerra comes with the scratched film filter already built in for render out.
