Question:

I'm making an effort to be a vegetarian. Is this a good start?

I still eat at places that serve meat but i only order things that have no meat. Like if I get a pizza, I will just have a plain cheese pizza. And if I have a burrito, I will just get a bean burrito. And instead of getting a burger at a burger place, I will order a salad or something. Is this a pretty good start? I am trying to start with baby steps and ease my way into a vegan lifestyle.

  1. Sure it's a good start! Anything we can do for the animals is!

It lets non-vegetarian restaurants know that they need to have veg options and saves lives.

Try out a vegetarian restaurant in your area too, if you are lucky enough to have one!

  2. I've been a vegetarian for about 6 months and I do this all the time. I don't see anything wrong with it. I'm the only person in my family that is a vegetarian. Most places that serve meat also have something for vegetarians. Good luck!

  3. yes, that seems like an awesome start! however it works for you. If you take baby streps your transfer to vegetarian will be less of a hardship, since your not denying your self so abruptly.

    Good luck!!

  4. That's totally fine. We don't live in a perfect utopia world where there are vegan restaurants on every street corner, so I think it's completely fine to eat vegetarian foods at non-vegetarian restaurants.

You may even be doing a good thing - companies keep track of how many of each menu item they sell. The more vegetarian food they sell, the more they are likely to offer in the future.

I would suggest you stay away from Wendy's though - my family's been boycotting them for years as they are huge users of rain forest beef.

  5. Sounds good to me. FYI, you can be a vegetarian and still eat at places that serve/sell meat, just as long as you don't eat it.

You're doing fine. :-) My only suggestion would be to try eating at more healthful restaurants... pizza is still pizza, even if it doesn't have meat on it.

  6. It's a very good start!!

i eat at places that have meat, but i don't order meat.

At Taco Bell(because you mentioned Bean Burrito) They have fresco style, its healthier, and it contains no dairy, and no meat!

Also do you mean Vegetarian or actual *Vegan??

(*Vegan= NO meat product at all!, NO dairy, no geletain ect..)

I like to go to bloomingfoods(you should go there sometime) its a health food grocery store where you can buy a bunch of organic(mostly) food!

And at places were they have meat, i usally order a salad meat free!!

on the source part i put some websites you should check them out!!

    good luck!!

  7. I don't see anything wrong w/ that. I've been a a vegetarian for 5 yrs now, and sometimes I eat at places that serve meat- I just don't eat it....but my boyfriend does so when we go out, sometimes there is no way to avoid it.

I don't think it makes you any less "vegetarian"...
