I'm making pizza from scratch tomorrow night and have a baking question....

When I put the pizza in the oven to bake, what should I place it on?

1. The oven rack only

2. Inside a greased pan

or

3. Inside a pan, but on top of greased tin foil

Which will produce the best results?

  1. if you dont have a pizza stone put in a pan but stones produce the best restaurant quality pizza as thats what there ovens are and yes oil the pan first will some extra virgin olive oil


  2. If you want is crisp crust put it on the rack only, put it in a greased pan if you prefer a softer crust.  The third one might lead to the pizza getting stuck in the pan.

  3. Stoneware! My mother has made home made pizza as long as I can remember and this is absolutely the best results.

    I recommend getting a Pampered Chef one if you can.

  4. Depends how you like it, if you like the deep pan version put it in a greased tin but if you prefer  thin pizzas like you get in italy then you need to use a bakestone.

My husband and I make pizza together every Friday after work.  We like our pizza baked on a cookie sheet or pizza pan that has been greased and sprinkled with either cornmeal or dusted with flour.  We bake our pizza at 425 F for 12 minutes and then check to see if it needs more time - sometimes another 3 minutes gives us the colour of crust  and toppings we like.  ENJOY!!

  7. Put it into a vehicle Helmet and keep it into the oven if it is not getting in.Use large hammar.let it be cooked for 2 weeks.  

  8. Martin, the best thing is a preheated pizza stone.  You'll never regret the purchase of one, and you'll never make pizza again without it.

    But with the choices you gave... do not use the oven rack only or it will fall through in places.  use a large cookie sheet dusted with corn meal or semolina flour.

  9. Well, ideally you should get a pizza stone. But the next best thing would probably be to put it on parchment paper with holes in it.

  10. I use a pizza stone for the best results, and if you're going to make pizza again, I suggest buying one, they are not expensive.  Out of your three choices, I would use the pan covered with foil.
