I'm modering an adult group and I believing a member is underage. How do I check it?

The reason why I believe so is her spelling and reaction when I ask her to correct herself.

Also, her age is hidden on her Yahoo Page, how can I check it without banning her?

  1. That would be hard to prove..

Just remember that spelling problems may indeed indicate a learning disability, and those who have that disability may get offensive and give out a bad reaction, try not to seem to criticize her spelling...

As a moderator, you will just have to trust and help those who join the group..

  2. Hm.. I have no clue.

But I wouldn't jump to conclusions.

Sum ppl r juss lazee so dey rite lyke dis.

But then again, some people learned English.

  3. anyone can lie and add in incorrect DOB on a Yahoo account- that's on Yahoo, not a group owner. Yahoo doesn't require proof of DOB either.

that said, Yahoo nor you can be sure of anyones true DOB- I don't offer my DOB either on my profile. there's no way for you to gain the DOB from any member, other than asking them, then trusting that answer to be true.

you have to use your own good judgement and decide to let this person remain a member, or if they are a risk to your adult group- if your group has rules that aren't being followed, there's your answer.

on a side note, you can tell younger aged members by how they spell and write- very few can control they way they spell certain things web-wise. it still could be a very immature 18 year old.
