I have a model airplane and it is really breakable, In think. It's wood and has a stand. Should I get a box and put plastic bags on the bottom then put the plane in then plastic bags on top. Or is there a place to take it in somewhere where a store will do it. Please give me advice.

Thank you

  1. Pack it carefully, and carry it with you.

  2. Paper would be way better than plastic. Newspaper would be okay but tends to rub ink all over stuff so if you can find at least a few sheets of packing paper or other plain paper, that would be best. Or put the plane gently into a large plastic bag so the newspaper doesn't rub on it. You will want a box big enough for the airplane, so it fits in easily but not tightly. If it has a stand, set it flat on the floor of the box. Then crumple the paper and put it around the plane so it prevents the plane from sliding around in the box. Put the paper in fairly loosely around delicate parts such as struts, a little more firmly around more solid parts. You want to support the body parts mostly. When you think you've got it, give the box a few gentle shakes to simulate riding in a car, and fill in any loose spots with more paper.

  3. If it's that delicate, then you could cut pieces of bubble wrap and carefully wrap each part, then put in a box full of styrofoam peanuts. This will further protect it from moving arouns. The only thing you would have to worry about is if something smashed the box.

  4. UPS packs boxes with a guarantee... I'd take it to UPS and have them ship it to you (or maybe they'll allow you to pay for them to pacage it and take it with you in your car).
