  1. light bulbs

    furniture polish

swiffer (so much better than a broom and mop!)

    vacuum(?)

    laundry basket or hamper

    laundry detergent

    air fresheners

    lysol

    hand soap

bug killer spray (just in case!)

    mousetrap (just in case)

baking soda (with the sheer panels to deodorize fridge)

    microwave

waste baskets for bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, etc

trash bags to fit waste baskets

clorox clean up spray (works great for kitchens, bathrooms, etc)

    extension cords (just in case)

    alarm clock

filing cabinet or storage for important papers

something to put mail and bills in/on (like a paper sorter thing)

    pens

    note pads

calendar (put bills due dates on them to remind you to pay them)

envelopes and stamps (if you pay bills by mail)

key hanger (or designated bowl or place to keep keys so you don't misplace them)

    phone books

    flashlight (for emergency power outage)

    candles (for same reason)

baseball bat and/or pepper spray for personal safety

liquid plumr and plunger (just in case)

    fire extinguisher (important)

    fire/smoke detector

    carbon monoxide detector

phone number list (of friends and relatives to call in emergencies)

also friends to call when  you are bored

and meet your neighbors, you never know when they might come in handy

  2. When I first left home and went out on my own I was really excited but at the same time just a little bit lonley.  I bought 6 matching picture frames to match my decor and filled them with pics of my favorite family moments.  Since I could always look up and be reminded of all the people who loved me, it took the edge off of my feelings almost instantly.  And they will feel good too when they visit and see them selves in your new apartment  Good luck!

  3. rug for the entry way, toilet paper, food, storage containers for left overs, pots and pans, microwave(?), vacuum, cleaning supplies, laundry basket, tv/ dvd player, computer, bedding. What I would suggest is buying the basics and just having start living there and see what else comes up. Don't over buy... when I first moved out I bought all kinds of things that I hardly ever used (like a blender and cake and pie pans).
