  1. Cost of living in Belgium in general ... we can not afford the same luxuries we could in the UK even though we have a slightly higher income.  Food is considerably cheaper in the Netherlands (only a half hour ride away).  A water boiler cost me £4.99 in Tesco in England.  In Belgium a similar would cost me about 50 Euros.  Same goes for most electronic goods..

    I live in rural West-Vlaanderen and can't tell you much about Brussels for the rest.


  2. Brussels is a very safe, and open city. The cost of living can be high in some places. But is usually the same as America, or a little lower. It has a low crime rate, but in Brussels they have their own red-light district and goverment run brothels, so I'd stay out of that side of town.
