  1. Other websites:

    http://www.geneve-tourisme.ch/index.php

    http://www.geneve.ch/welcome2.html

  2. Contact a Real Estate agency. They will help you in a professional way. (Then, if costs are too high, you will have time -while there- to find other accomodations. Through newspapers ...).

  3. Over here in Geneva we have our local radio station WRS (World Radio Switzerland) which is entirely Anglophone and they have a really good classifieds section (see http://www.wrgfm.com/classified_login.ht... which will almost always have homes/flats that are being sold by expats leaving Switzerland (they can be listened to in the Lake Geneva area on 88.4 FM. But seeing that you live in Britain, my advice to you is that you tune in using their website - especially on a Friday when the classifieds are broadcast on air from 09:00 - 10:00 CET, which is 08:00 - 09:00 back in Britain)

Once you arrive here in Switzerland (or even just before you leave) why don't you check this helpful website made for Swiss and Foreigners alike, that can help you with many details for living in Switzerland - I provided a link below.

    Hope this has helped,

  4. Are you looking for a comunal solution, a flat on your own, a house... ?

You can check out shared accomodations at www.wgzimmer.ch  - maybe even as a starting point until you find something else?

    Hope this helps...

    Skylander.

  5. Look for ex-pat forums and boards with fellow countryfolk, tap into what someone else has already been through.

Look into local newspapers and check out their online editions for the classifieds.

If it is very temporary and you have to be there before you manage to find a place, check out local university for room listings, even for a short term basis.

That is of course if your company is not footing your moving costs - if it is then that is a whole other kettle of fish.

  6. Congratulations on your move - I used to work in Switzerland and absolutely loved it; will be returning shortly.

The Swiss tourist office has a good English website offering details of accommodation and other useful advice at http://www.myswitzerland.com/

Short term rentals are often best found in classifieds, such as the section on expatriates.com - http://www.expatriates.com/classifieds/g...

Make sure you make several visits ahead of your move to ensure you know the area, etc and only get a short term rent agreement -- you are not tied into anything if you later decide to move to a different neighborhood.

Are you currently employed by a Geneva based company? If so, don't worry about a thing - when I moved to CH the company assigned a 'welcome agent' to settle us in, find a house (paid for by them), register with doctors, ID cards. etc....
