I'm moving from Indiana, so I have experienced a fairly cold climate. I just wanted a sense. Thanks!

  1. I spent a week there (in the summer) and was told by the residents that winters are cold and long.  Negative temperatures (Fahrenheit) for days-in-a-row were common and lots of snow was also common.

One engineer I worked with that week who lives out-of-town on a farm told me that he would have to drive ahead of the snow-plows because sometimes they couldn't get through (but I'll take that story with a grain-of-salt).

Ithaca is in a deep valley at the end of one of the Finger lakes.  There are lots of steep hills and I can foresee lots of trouble for getting up and down those hills on snow and ice.

    Good luck.

I enjoyed my stay when I was there.

  2. very cold, very snowy!

  3. Pretty much like those in Indiana.  Down in Ithaca you won't get the "lake effect snow", but it will be cold and snowy from December through March, at least.

  4. extremely cold...lots of  snow..
