  1. As a person who lives in the western suburbs I say stay in the city its not worth the cheapness. House prices are rediculous in australia as you will soon learn and its best to rent and see if you enjoy our country first. You should live in the Hunters Hill district if you want to find a job in bar tending. There is an incredible amount of jobs in this district and the hills is to far out from the city to do anything exciting. Im 16 and trust me ive lived 12 years here and its isolating the only action you get is the mall at the hills so stick to the outer city districts like hunters hill. Go to wikipedia to find out more info

  2. Have a look at the Sydney Morning Herald on a Saturday http://www.smh.com.au The classified advertisements will tell you what is available in the way of work and housing.

To work in a bar in Sydney you will need a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate and probably the responsible gaming certificate as well. You can get these with a one-day course at TAFE but you won't get a job without them.

  3. The western suburbs is cheaper to live in than the city. But there are bars everywhere. The more 'trendy' and 'upper class' the bar you work in, the less trouble you'll have (as a general rule).
