More specifically, what type of winter jacket? I've been looking at this Burton jacket: http://www.evogear.com/jackets/burton-domain-5/3-jacket-womens.aspx

But I didn't know if I should get a longer style. Any help would be great!! Any additional information regarding Whitehorse, YT would also be awesome!

  1. witner in yukon can fall to an average low -30 degrees celsisus NOT including the windchill....

so a longer style jacket would be great or a parka....

    most importantly, wear layers underneath!

  2. Buy a parka that comes to mid thigh or longer.  That is what most people wear in the north.  The Canada Goose brand is the most popular and the best.  You see it everywhere throughout the north. Depending on how much you will be outside, you may need snowpants.  You will need a good pair of boots, especially if you intend to do any snowmobiling.  Invest in a good hat - many men especially wear the ones with the fur flaps that can come down over your ears or be turned up and tied on top.  Canada Goose also makes good mitts.

I haven't been to Whitehorse, but I have been to Yellowknife and Iqaluit and farther north, so feel free to ask.  Best of luck.
