I'm moving to a new town 30 miles away. Should I keep my job and commute or start over?

Gas prices are sky high so the idea of commuting makes me nervous. I'm moving for college so I'll need all the extra money I can get my hands on.

Should I maybe just get a job in my new town working retail or something, until I can find a "better" job? That way I'll avoid the commute.

  1. Keep your  current job until you find another one.

Look at the cost of driving to yor job.  If your car gets 20 mpg and gas goes to $4 a gallon, it will cost you $60 a week to ddrive to work.

Keep your job until you find another one.  Its easier to find ajob if your employeed.

  2. See if transfering is an option. If it is not, keep the job while at the same time look for a job that will pay the same at a nearer distance from home.  :o)

  3. If you are moving then commute until you find a job at your new place. It is easier to find a job when you have a job.

  4. I think a lot of it would depend on what you want to do with your life.  It doesn't sound as though you are real tied to the present job you have and that it will be fairly easy for you to find another one in the town you're moving to.  With the price of gas what it is and what it's going to be by the end of 2008 I'd just look for me a job in the  town where I'm going to be living.

    Good luck!
