Please Help

Actually it’s my first date,

I just want to know how you pay in a restaurant

Is it like?

I) after you've eaten you ask the "waiter" to bring the bill, then he brings some sort of a notebook like thing with the bill inside, then u put the cash in the notebook............AND sometime later he brings the returning amount

II) You do the same as in (I) but go to the counter and ask for the returning amount

III) After you've eaten you walk directly up to the counter and pay the cash as U pay in a "cheap" "street" restaurant?

If it’s none of the above then please write what to do? I do not want her to think I'm a complete idiot.

  1. Plan 1 is d best of all

  2. in a nice restaurant in US number 1 except you need to leave a tip for your waiter which is 15-20% of your bill.

  3. You missed a step.  Give the waiter your discount dining certificate from www.myrestaurantdiary.com

You save money at restaurants, and she won't think you are a complete idiot.

  4. number 1

  5. You are an Idiot. Just do what the other people do!! The waiter usually asks you!! OMG, are you serious?<3

  6. stick with your plan no 1... is this some kind fo joke u asking

  7. aw.

    order, eat well.

when you've finished, call the server over and ask for the bill. s/he'll either deal with it (your #1) or point you to the cash (#3). I can't think of a time when #2 applies.

  8. What a nice guy! I hope your date goes well!!! Don't be too nervous. Okay, to help with your question.

Most places are like #1. The 'sever' will bring the check to you, hopefully without you having to ask for it. This usually happens after you are offered dessert. You could just ask the sever, when they drop off the bill, if you pay them. OR, when you first get to the place, take a look around and see if you see a cash register, or just the host stand. This way you won't have to ask, and you'll just know.

When you put your money in the book, I usually leave a little hanging over the top of the book. This way the server knows I'm ready to pay. If you want to include the tip at time of payment (15-20%) and don't need any change back, just tell your server you don't need any change. Otherwise, they will bring your change back to you.

There's usally a certain order of things when dining out. When you first get to the table, the server will come to introduce themselves, and offer you a beverage. After that, you'll likely be asked if you want any appetizers. Then you'll be asked if you're ready to order. If you're ready, be sure to ask your date if they are ready. Don't just order. It's kinda rude. If you or she needs more time to look over the menu, just let your server know. Then after the meal, you should be offered dessert. And if your server is good at their job, they will bring you drink refills without even asking.

Hope you have a great date!

  9. hi Sanjay,

Stick to no. i}  date or otherwise, we should always ask the waiter to get the bill and make payment thru him whether it is cash or card.

and PLEASE do not forget to tip the waiter. when he gets the balance Cash back if it is a" fine - dining place"  in the same " note book like thing ' leave at least 15 - 25 % of the bill amount.

If it is a good restaurant u can tip the waiter about 10 to 15%

  10. in all good restaurants you will follow the 1st option yes and tipping is not a city in china 10% should be enough thou
