  1. dont go into the adult section unless you're ready for scary, scary things.

  2. No self-inserts.  There are legions of them out there, reviewing each other and stealing attention away from writers who work very hard and want feedback.  Know your characters well, and proper spelling and grammar.  That's pretty much it, and you're good to go!  If you need a friend or beta on FFN, I'm nendo-chan, so feel free to say hello! :3

  3. I'm a fan of reading the stories in fanfiction.net and here are some of my suggestions that I think could be helpful.

Don't forget to clearly specify the genre of your story, also please clearly specify the pairings of your story.

When typing don't forget to use spell check and please reread then reread again the story you have typed (some authors have wrong spelling, wrong grammar and even doubled words >.<).

Try using a wide vocabulary of words so that the story could be more interesting. Last but not the least please don't forget to specify the fiction rating of your story clearly (for the safety of younger readers ^^)

  4. Don't ever click on anything that has the word mature, adult,or lemon in it,unless you'd like to be scarred for life.

I clicked on something that said lemon once on this quizilla fanfic (I had no idea what lemon meant) and let's just say I will never be able to look at this one character the same way again. Poor, poor envy.

And don't write stupid stuff either that's just really lame with run on sentences and making some character a grandfather. I would like to kill the person who made one of my fave characters a GRANDPA(and he looks like only 16-17!)And don't write fanfics about the jonas bros,or else I will have to kill you. I read one fanfic about them(just to see how lame it would be)and it was lamer and stupider than I expected.

Try your best, and don't click on lemons!

  5. If you decide to create you're own character, avoid the Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu concept. Mary-Sue: A perfect female character that outshines all the other characters in everything and all the men love them. I MEAN they are good at everything. Better looks, talent, intelligence, powers, skills....etc. Giver your character some flaws.

Gary-Stu: The male version of the Mary-Sue

Also avoid the self-insertions. Don't insert yourself into a fanfiction. That is a no no.
