Maybe begin by saying hello and asking the person how they're doing. If the person seems friend ask questions about the person's name...hobbies?

Welcome to the biggest melting pot in the world. Find your niche/corner and hide in it! People are nasty and vicious here! Well if your brave enough to approach sed american. Everyone is different some people are jerks(north) and some people are nice (south and hik areas) Just say your normal greeting. Like hey hows it going whats up hows your day? Hey I heard blah blah blah what do you think? Find out what that person likes. Most people like sports(not me) well I do like boxing/ufc but I don't know most of the fighters.. Then make up some excuse about how you have to go or say i'm tired night night.

talk about what u like and ask the there interesets when the conversation runs dry, talk about silly things things that r happening on the news that u no r interesting anything . remember too some people r not talkative
