  1. DOS, was the older version of what today is known as Command Prompt. With the arrival of XP, DOS was upgraded and it was renamed to Command Prompt, with loads and loads of extra features and uses.

The files prepared in Command Prompt are also called Batch files. These special Batch files have a .bat extension and when they are started they carry out the commands you have written in its source code. Batch files are mostly made with the help of Notepad in Windows.

    Check out this site:

    http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~ak621/DOS/Bat...

It has got different types of examples ranging from basic to intermediate to expert ones. Just browse through the site and try out these examples.

Also, just go to Google.com and search 'dos file examples' or 'batch file examples' or 'batch files' to find loads of other sites which may help you.

You can even try out Batch files/DOS/Command Prompt videos on YouTube to learn easily. Just go to YouTube.com and search with the keywords: batch files OR batch file examples, etc

Hope this helps and you're able to learn further in Batch Programming.
