  1. you would obviously need a putter. to tee off i would use a driver and for those other shots a 6 iron

  2. A 7 iron is I think the best for practicing your swing. I assume you'll already buy a wedge and a putter so the other club that I will suggest is a driver. The driver is the most commonly used club because it's usually the first thing you use in a hole.

  3. Start out with a good set so that you wont need to change once you get good at the game

  4. Are you going to get your iron set 1 by 1 also?

    In that case.. good luck.

My most used club on the range in my 6-iron.. Next is my 3 hybrid. You might also want to pratice your short game. so getting a Pitching Wedge wont hurt either.

  5. I would suggest using the driving range clubs until you developed the semblence of a golf swing. Then look around the area pro shops for a full set of used clubs( turn ins). This is a less expensive alternative. If you do purchase a used set, make sure that they feel right for your swing and that the weight appears to be in the club head. When you are more proficient you can consider a new set. Remember that " feel " will result in your having more confidence.

  6. Well, to start you need more than one or two clubs.  I would say a driver, 6 iron, pitching wedge and a putter.

  7. I'd start with a pitching wedge that you can hit around your yard (if you have one), and which is also useful at par 3 courses.

Next should be a nine iron, another essential par 3 course club. You can borrow putters from most par 3 courses, so that's not a big deal; yet putting is one of the most difficult things to get good at.

From there get a driver, and start practicing a lot. It will take a good while to get used to, but it's the most important club once you get out onto regular courses.

The rest are pretty much similar to eachother and you just practice with them as you play.

Most golf courses wont let you in without a full set of clubs however. At least in my experience when I took my cousin golfing and wanted to share my clubs they wouldn't let me on the course because we didn't have two full sets.

  8. If you are just going to start with one or two I would say get a 5 iron.  It is in the middle of the set and if you can learn to hit it well then shorter and longer clubs won't be too difficult to master once you get them.  Most important club is the putter so make that your second club and practice that more than anything.  Half your shots are made on the putting green with that one club.

  9. Putter, Seven Iron, 3 wood

I sometimes have had the players on my golf team practice with just three clubs. It encourages the development of different shots with different clubs.

  10. well I would suggest if you are only going to get a few clubs, a 7 iron, a 3 or 5 wood a sand wedge or pichting wedge and putter.  I would also suggest getting a lesson or three from a PGA pro, most PGA pros are excellent teachers and do enjoy bringing new people to the game.

  11. When i go to the driving range three times a week i only take my putter and my 9 iron.

I take these because all of your strokes come from the putts. So if you suck at putting then your score is going to be high.

You nine iron is another good one because you will need to practice on your chipping.

I have played golf for 11 years and i still only take a 9 iron and a putter to the driving range.

Then as you get more clubs you eventually start to take more than two clubs.

  12. Get a driver with alot of loft something like 10 or 10'5 or just use your 3 wood it's easyer to hit
