  1. i still don't think it's "fair" that toyotas in the NATIONWIDE series only are being forced to use the stricter restrictor plate as they did work within the rules to get all they could out what they were allowed. but after researching the issue thoroughly, there's far more to it than meets the eye. problem is, both the media, and the attention span of most people, aren't geared toward long involved explanations - and that's what it takes to understand the reasoning behind nascar's decision with the new rule...

yeah, it's a "penalty" of sorts right now for toyota, but it will soon be a benefit to all teams involved - including toyota. once nascar approves the chevy R07 engine for use in the nationwide series, they too will have to use the stricter restrictor plate, and that will essentially "penalize" them the same as toyota.

so one way to view it is as a temporary penalty for one manufacturer (toyota) for now and for two manufacturers (actually any teams who use the R07 and any using toyotas) later. or you can take the "big picture view " and see it as a way for nascar to allow teams that have and can afford newer engines to use them while still keeping them competitive with teams that can't afford them or don't have new ones (like ford and dodge).

six of one, half dozen of another... it's a matter of perspective and a matter of "timeliness." i myself don't believe i now agree with the decision - i don't like it - but i can understand the reasoning behind it and the possible benefits...

  2. they did that to Chevy all the time!! ford would cry that Chevy was winning all the time so ford got to change their spoiler and Chevy could not  (Winston cup ) to make the race equal

  3. No one has been penalized.  Try again.

The rule applies to each and every team.  When/if Nascar ever approves Chevy's new RO7 engine, they will have to abide by the same rules modification.

And to add a little, the 18 has nothing to do with your complaint, the rules change was limited to the Nationwide Series only.........for now.

  4. Its Nascars way of leveling the playing field and keeping the fan base happy. Seen the stands lately??

  5. If a team gains an advantage without breaking any rules that are in place, they should not have to give back that advantage!

  6. They got advantage fair and square   I have a feeling Chevy will pull out racing before it ever gets advantage again   They are loosing money faster than chevy's are losing at the track

  7. Nah...the other teams should've spoken up sooner for them to do R&D now its kinda late...after TOYOTA won majority of the races this yr.
