Why is it when a black person doesn't act black, some black people get disgusted with you. I get it all the time. I don't listen to hip-hop that much and I don't where any hip-hop clothes like Phat Farm, Sean John, or Fubu. Just because I listen to rock music and I like gothic emo white guys, I'm disgrace to the black community. I remember I took an R&B choir and ever time they play song on the stereo, I wouldn't know it. The on did actually know the song, they acted like I found a cure for AIDS. The only reason I knew that song was because I had listened to it in my brother car. I am who I am, but society thinks I'm not black enough.

  1. I can totally understand where you are coming from. I am having the same problems. I am a black woman who talks with intelligence, and I love rock music, too. A lot of black people around here ask me why am I talking white. It is not talking white, it's being who you are as a person and not conforming to what society says that we should be. So you just keep liking what you like and when you feel down because they say that you are not "acting black", just remember that there is someone who has the same problem and you are not alone. (I hope that this wasn't too long-winded!)

  2. Whats black enough? White enough? Feminine enough or masculine enough? Who makes these rules??

Truly, there will always be someone to say you aren't___enough. Could be tall, skinny, rich, funny, smart, girlie, happy, spontaneous, mature.....

Be who you want to be, act as you want to act, and be confident about it. The next time someone says "you aren't ___ enough" just stare them in the eye and say "For who? Cause if its you, I'm not really worried."

  3. Sometimes the most judgmental people are those who feel they have been harshly judged in the past. It's hypocrisy and it's human nature.

  4. I think some people need to realize that black people aren't all the same just like any other race.  You are born black, you can't act like it.  As you can see some people think if you don't like hip-hop or dress in hip-hop clothes than you are not black enough for them.  Just forget about those people since those people want everyone black people to fit the black stereotype.  Just be true to yourself.  Like what you like since I like J-pop, K-pop, and trying to get into C-pop.  Just remember that you aren't the only black person out there that don't fit the black stereotype.

  5. The people who are acting this way are just ignorant people who needs to get a life of their own. What you listen to and who you hand out with is NONE of their business. You should try hanging out with your "white" friends if they treat you better, because who needs someone ignorant in their life?

SOME black people are just like that- but not all. It's really sad that people can't just accept them for them.

  6. People always look for things to criticize people about if it's not one thing it's another. It's not your job to be what other people want you to be, you are being an individual not a stereotype. There's nothing wrong with liking rap or rock, it's a style of music not a race of person. Don't let what's "black" or "white" dictate your preferences.
