I'm not adopted so why don't I look like my parents?

My parents are German and Danish are both very fair and have blonde hair and light blue eyes, but I don't really look like them at all for some reason. I have very dark curly hair and hazel eyes and kind of an olive complextion, somewhat Middle Eastern looking. A lot of people ask me if I'm Jewish, or if I'm from Israel or Lebanon. I have nothing against the way I look, I think I look pretty exotic in a way, but I just wonder why I don't look like my parents. I know I'm not adopted or anything like that. So what could be the reason for me not taking after them?

Sounds like you're a genetic "throwback" to one of your earlier, more "exotic" looking Relatives... Celebrate it! I bet you've made your Parents- Proud!  :)

While it is most likely recessive genes there is a possibility, slim I am sure, that one of your parents isn't your parent.

blond hair nd blue eyes are resesive genes... so if they also had darker genes or what ever in there dna they would of tookin over the blonde hair blue eyes when they went to you...

plus i look nothing liek my parents but look like my aunt

and my aunts kid looks just like my daddy

i think because the blood and looks of a human can be pasted by birth but if somthing messed u up when u were mutating in the womans egg then u might of been changed or interrup and couldnt finish mutating to ur real self its known to happen sometimes i guess.

I look more like my grandparents, but i look nothing like my parents, just dont worry about it

i don't really know how it works either but i didn't look like mine either nor my siblings ...i was always told by those who could remember my grandmother that i looked just like her and had her actions also ...maybe sometimes it skips back a generation and you and i was two that did.

Maybe your mom had an affair.  I would ask her.  Hey you never know.  I mean if you look like absolutely no one ...well I would be suspicious.  I would ask to see pictures of all relatives.  You might just see yourself.  I pulled out a picture of my mother when she was 18.  Well my son looks exactly like her.  Even he asks me "why do I look just like Grandma".

find pictures of both grandparents from either side of the family. im sure there must be a resemblance there.

Don't worry!!!! I am 40 yrs. old and just last week discovered I look like my grandmother.I always wondered why I didn't look like my parents too.

Sometimes there is no accounting for how you look,just be happy with who you are.

Your parents may be fair light haired individuals, but somewhere in their heritage, I am betting there is someone who is closer to you. Dark features also come from Germany. There is also the chance that although your parents believe there is nothing else in their heritage, there could also be Native American, because for years that information was left out of a persons records in the attempt to dilute or remove the Native American from the United States records.

If there is no one in your family (including grandparents and great grandparents) who looks similar to you.....

If they are ALL light skinned with blond hair and blue eyes....

Then you are either adopted or you were switched at birth.  

Sorry....but it just can't be that you would look like you do if there is no one else.

It is also possible that your mom had an affair.....

ever think about that?  Maybe your daddy isn't really your daddy.

Could be recessive genes, ask your parents what races their parents were.
