Question:

I'm not being a racist, but why do people in pick-up trucks on the freeway act like they're driving for NASCAR

Isn't a pick-up mainly for hauling things instead of intimidating other drivers? And what about gas prices, doesn't this make a differencehow they drive?

  1. So F1 drivers are the "good drivers" huh??? So who was that DRIVER that ran over Danica Patrick on pit row???

As far as the pick up thing, are you saying that ALL pickup trucks are driven that way on the road??? I didn't think so................Generalizing trucks or cars is like doing the same with people of color.............biggoted!

  2. those rednecks do it cause they like to get somwhere FAST so they can watch more nascar since tha tis all they do w/ there lives!

  3. There not driving  , they are qualifying , there is a difference :))

  4. I've had people pass me on the freeway in Hummers, Acuras, Explorers, Minivans, as well as other vehicles, including trucks. Don't classify all drivers of pickup trucks as qualifiers for NASCAR just because they scare you in your geo storm.

  5. I live in maryland and theres a good amount of people (mostly other teenagers) who drive trucks with small lifts, custom tail lights and exhaust systems with about 300 glasspacks rigged to them.

I like trucks, pretty much just for mabe going off roading or hauling things or just to have as your regular vehicle, i like old school cars like chevelles and challengers for going fast though (all that is a hypothetical since i cant drive yet)  :(

  6. Because they think they lords of the roads especially people in those darn Dodge Rams.

  7. many people drive trucks, not just for hauling things, and I can assume these people you are talking about would drive the same way if they were in another vehicle......they are just bad drivers

  8. Thunder...Does anyone really care about open wheel?  Really?  Got fenders? Nope.

  9. ohhh, i see why i misunderstood.  it's called a "pick-em-up truck."  and yeah, i don't usually find them the most racin-ist at all.  my beat up 20 year old acura usually has no problems pulling in behind them to draft, or pulling up along side them to see if i can dive in at'em and get a little side-suck and pull the air off'em.  but those beer cans blowing out are a hazard - i never figured out how they can do that without the CHP throwing a caution...

EDIT: lenny d, danica drives indy cars in the IRL. she does not drive F1, at least not until she and kyle have their tests later this year ;-)

EDIT II: "gp" - i love you man. it's rare to find someone so consistently inconsistent.  sentence one, make an overgeneralization; sentence two, another overgeneralization; and then for the punch line, sentence three, deny that you overgeneralize.  as for the idiots you describe, those ARE nascar drivers: 1) speed excessively, 2) never use turn signals - they don't have turn signals, those lights are just painted on, 3) expect to have the left (inside) lane to themselves all the time, and 4) they're always bitchin' all the time (usually about how the car handles) - sounds like most nascar drivers to me ;-)

  10. I'm not I'm drafting!!

    *****edit****

My Dodge Diesel get ave of 28 miles per gallon!! So, I don't much worry!

    ***EDIT****

I am QUEEN of the road in my DODGE Laramie!

  11. Are you talking about all the young punks?

Not much you can do about that..

  12. you think it is bad here, try going to Europe and driving there where everyone drives like they are qualifying for a formula one race in a stock car.

edit:i mean a saloon car.and it gets real interesting when the lorrys get into the act of trying to stuff a 50 foot rig into a 40 foot space.

  13. No, its people in mini vans that cant drive!  But I have noticed people in work related pick up trucks drive poorly.  Thats if you just forcing to make a generalization, which I wouldnt normally try to do.  Ever notice its the idiots that speed excessively, never use turn signals, expect to have the left lane all to themselves, are the ones who are always bitchin about other people's driving. I always root for them to end up in a ditch.

  14. Seeing as how I drive a Tractor-trailer I would ask the more important question why do so many people in general drive like they are at the race

  15. i feel the need the need for speed:-)

lol there running away fron the allstate chicks......

  16. I have never really noticed that but I have noticed that anytime someone gets out of a pickup that's jacked up 4 feet in the air that the person getting out is usually about 5 foot 2 or the size of Mark Martin.  i guess the big wheels make up for the lack of manhood.

  17. How is that being racist? Are the people driving these trucks of another ethnic background?

And they're not trying to intimidate other drivers, they're drafting..

  18. I thought being a racist was loving everything about racing.  The pickup engines are usually larger made for hauling ***.  Gas prices usually dictate how far you drive more than how you drive.

  19. How is this question racist?

Is Nascar like F1 racing for people who can't drive, cause thats what it looks like?

  20. In my experience, anytime someone starts a statement with "I'm not being racist", chances are they ARE racist...

How does fast and/or inappropriate driving equate to a racism issue? And furthermore, assuming everyone is going to drive more rationally just because they are paying more for fuel is absurd!! Besides, how much is your time worth to you? Mine is worth at least $20/hr, so even paying .50-.75 cents more a gallon I would rather burn thru an extra 5 -10 gallons of gas on a trip, spending an extra $3.75 to $7.50 to get there 30 minutes faster. Remember, 30 mins to me is worth at least $10.00...

We are creatures of habit, we will continue to live life how we always have, but now we have something to complain about along the way...

  21. It's not tailgating, it's drafting.

  22. You're racist.

  23. Visit Texas, the Pick up capital of the US!

  24. Because if you drive real fast all your empty beer cans will fly out (self cleaning). It does the conscious good to know that you just didn't throw those beer cans out on purpose.

It also gives the inmates a job to have the beer cans  properly scattered throughout the county for pickup instead of one big ugly pile on the side of the highway.

  25. hahahah i know just what you're talking about.

Well the people who drive pick up trucks love nascar so they try to be a nascar driver lol
