I want a second job?

I work at a restaurant/ice cream shop as a hostess. I only make minimum wage and it is not nearly enough money for everything I need to pay for. I had asked for a raise and he basically said no without saying no. I just got a boost to 33 hours in a week. I need a second job, it is hard because I really cannot see myself working anyplace other than the job I am at! I want to keep this job and also another one. I am not really a fan of working in the same town that I live in, it is boring and I like to meet new people. Any suggestions as to where I can start looking?

Additional Details

I am 18 years old. Going to be a freshman in a community college starting September. Also, this restaurant is my first job.

  1. O.k, so you're trapped inside a bubble it sounds like.

You've got a little bit of experience. That's good. Purge yourself to get out and go work somewhere else where you're experience in the restaurant industry proves you're worth your weight in gold. Waitresses make good money. TIPS!!!

Start thinking about restaurants where you make TIPS!!!

You'll get your base pay plus your TIPS!!! Think of that as your raise.

    Olive Garden

    Claim Jumper

    Red Lobster

    Chillies

    Apple Bees

    Just to name a few.

  2. Look for things such as 7-Elevens, WaWa's (if they have them where you live), internships, etc., etc.

You get paid minimum wage I think, but at least it's doubled by both jobs! And I believe that most of the ones I listed are part-timers and full-timers. Happy Job Hunting!

  3. no answer

  4. You can try babysitting in your own town or look for another icecream/waitress/hostess job.

  5. Well I don't know what area you live in but hospitals are always hiring for different positions like house keeping, Food service and transportation.  Those are all nice jobs and I'm sure they pay alot better and they usually work around your schedule you have.  I work in the ER and I love my job.  Good Luck To You!

  6. you could always try talking to a career counselor.  Or if just looking for another job, try Human Resources Development Canada - they always have tons of jobs.

  7. Your college is a great place! The student union, couseling office, or student affairs office usually post job listings in the area for students. Sometimes the college itself hires students to work in the area that they are studying. Another option is to apply at your favorite stores, resteraunts, etc. Allot of times these people will recognize you from being in there store often and are more likely to hire you. Hope this helps some.

  8. My bro is 16 and he works at Sonic (fast food restaurant,NOT the cartoon character) and he works about 44 hours per week. in his last paycheck he got about 550 $ (he spend it all in less then 2 days .....LOL)

    so i kinda reccomend it.
