  1. I applaud you for wanting to evolve and change but you'll need help from a good therapist to cope with this disorder. It is a tricky condition that manifests itself in subtle ways. You're halfway there by accepting the diagnosis. So many people just deny they have it, as if that will make it not true?? Work with a professional and life & relationships will start to get easier for you.

  2. I know what you mean.  A disorder is a label they give to groups of symptoms you have.  My family had disorders and when I began to have the same symptoms I decided I wasn't going to take the disorder label and say that is what I am destined for.

When it comes down to it, the disorders are only wrong thought patterns ingrained into you by your upbringing or abuse & that.

So what I did was, if I had a bad destructive thought pattern troubling me, I looked for someone who I knew didn't have a problem in that area.  I would observe or ask them what their thought pattern was that made them good in that area.  Then teach myself to think that way instead of my habitual way.

I managed to get better this way without pills or a label.

  3. Best discuss this with your doctor/therapist!

  4. I'm not happy about being categorized with my mental illness either. When my family, friends, and acquaintances discovered it, they now treat me like the I have the plague. I'm considered "different" therefore nobody treats me the same as before I was diagnosed.

The only suggestion I can make to you is to distinguish clearly who you are, what you want to be and treat yourself with utmost respect. This takes time, a lot of self-nurturance and routinely practising positive esteem. Research as much as you can about the disorder and all its characteristics. If you truly feel that any part of this disorder does not fit with who you know yourself to be, simply disregard it. Knowledge is power and the more you know, the less it will conduct or dominate your thinking. I hope this helps you. Best wishes.
