Yes there are famous ones . . . and these are just to name a few!!

  8. Sureya Bonally,

  9. there are some out there, like in worlds in march, there was a male skater representing mexico. the only reason you dont see theseskaters often is because skating isn't big in africa or counrties of hispanic orgins. yes there are a lot of oriental skaters, mostly because a lot of th time they are more driven and wanting to succeed in what they do. at my rink we have a few african american skaters, many oriental skaters and many caucasian skaters. skating is just a sport where you have to have a goal and will to reach it and money.

  10. well, as you may know, it is slightly noticable that most figure skaters competing nationally right now are asian or caucasian. this is because figure skating was invented in asia, and quickly spread over into europe, this is why most skaters come from these areas [and america and canada as well] because the popularity and training is much better in these countries. ther are many many african american and hispanic figure skaters in the sport throughout the world, unfortunately they are not "as good" as the skaters you see competing on television such as Ashley Wagner or Caroline Zhang. i am not 100% positive, but i do believe that Juliana Cannarozzo is hispanic. it is not a matter of race that effects a skater's want to participate in the sport, it is just a matter of interest.

many people wonder the same thing, as it is noticeable when you watch skating. don't feel uncomfortable asking, i'm sure many people feared to ask due to a suspect of racism.

  11. Here are some off the top of my head that, although not incredibly famous (yet!) are up and comers:

-Kristine Musademba: 2008 Junior 4th Place at Nationals (African American)

-Eliot Halverson: 2006 Novice National Champion, 2007 Junior National Champion (Colombian)

-Rohene Ward: 2008 Midwestern Sectional Silver Medalist (part African American, part Puerto Rican)

This site lists several up and comer and well-known Latino figure skaters: http://www.latinoskating.org/
