A copper refinery produces a copper ingot weighing 150.lb. If the copper is drawn into wire whose diameter is 1.25 mm, how many meters of copper can be obtained from the ingot?

  1. Length in meters = mm^3/[pi x (1.25mm/2)^2)/1000mm/m

    mm^3 = (10mm/cm)^3 x (150 lb x #grams/lb) / (#g of Cu/cm^3)

    fill in the blanks and do the calcs.

    Remember: put in the "UNITS" and see that the units cancel to give the ultimate desired units.
