Yesterday I my nephew gave my baby a pickle. By 2 am my baby was crying and didn't want anything but out of her crib. She never cries like she did at 2 am. It was non stop for 45 min. then she fell asleep wok e up at 10am with stuffy, runny nose...other than that everything was fine. Took her to daycare they said she was fine. When i was about to leave i saw 4 red bumps. Hoping this isn't chicken pox we went to walmart and she was fine. Then 8 pm i put her to bed and she has a slight fever wont go to sleep gave her baby Tylenol. She is in bed woke up twice but still asleep. I have to work all day tomorrow . And i don't know what to do...Call the dr, wait to see if i see more bumps....This is my first baby and i am freaking out!! Please some advice.... Im nor sure if it is allergic reaction to that picklE, Its bumps on like rash..She is 10 months and is in daycare BTW

  1. Chicken pox is contracted by touching an infected person's blisters or anything that has been contaminated by contact with them. The virus is also thought to be airborne since it may be caught from an infected person by coughing and sneezing even before the rash develops.

There are usually no symptoms before the rash occurs but occasionally there is fatigue and some fever in the 24 hours before the rash is noticed. The typical rash goes through a number of stages:

    1. First it appears as flat red splotches

    2. They become raised and may resemble small pimples

    3. They develop into small blisters, called vesicles, which are very fragile

    4. They may look like drops of water on a red base

    5. As the vesicles break, the sores become pustular and form a crust - the crust is made of dried serum, and not true pus. The crust falls away between days nine and 13. (Itching is severe in the pustular stage.)

The vesicles tend to appear in crops within two to six days. All stages may be present in the same area. They often appear on the scalp and in the mouth, and then spread to the rest of the body, but they may begin anywhere. They are most numerous over shoulders, chest and back. There may be only a few sores, or there may be hundreds.

watch it  for the next little bit to see if it gets worse or if it spreads more also watch her for breathing difficulties and such in case of the reaction either way make sure to call the doctor in the morning to let the office know if it is a reaction or to get it diagnosed at least

  2. Does anyone you know have chicken pox?

  3. well she would have to be expose to chicken pox. But at daycare that is very possible. i would call the doctor ASAP if she is still very cranky in the morning especially if she is normally chill. Has she had a chicken pox vaccination? It could just be a reaction to the pickle but I find that doubtful.

here is an excellent website with pictures and symptoms.

Bumps on a rash sound like chicken pox to me.

  4. If you call the doctor he or she will probably tell you to bring her in. If she does have Chicken Pox, then it's very contagious and she should be kept out of daycare, Wall-mart, etc. For the record, my son had allergies to food dyes. He had a reaction to a pickle one time and I couldn't figure out why until I read the ingredients. I was amazed to find yellow dye number 4 in a jar of pickles! Your daughter may be too young for Chicken Pox, I really don't know, and she sounds pretty young to be worried about allergies. I don't know that either. I'm not a doctor, but I thought I would mention the pickles. Bumps can be from many things, including heat, flea bites, and a million other things. It's probably best to have her looked at by a doctor, even if it's just for your own piece of mind.

  5. my guess would be its just an allergic reaction. check to see if your nephew is getting  the pox because that the only person in your details i think would have given them to your child, but definitely if there are more bumps higher fever and you just cant get rest worrying take the child to a doctor
