I'm not sure if my russian tortoise wants exercise?

Question

I put him outside a lot and he does like to walk...and far!! but then other times he'll just want to bury down and sleep outside, when he could be walking...soooooooooo just wondering if their little legs are just itching to walk all the time, if they are I'll make sure....ha ha...just wondering really, thank you..

Sometimes torts just aren't interested in doing much outside even when the weather is lovely and sunny. When the weather is too warm, say around midday torts tend to bury down and sleep until its cooler for them.

First of all, you're doing a great job by putting him outside a lot.  We Russians like nature :D

Every Russian tortoise has a unique personality, so just watch him carefully.  Your job is to provide him with the opportunity, and he will see if he wants to roam around or nap.  As long as he looks overall healthy, you got nothing to worry about.

I think hes just doing what he wants to do. As long as he gets some exercise i think its fine for him to have a nap when hes outside. My Hermann tortoise does that alot, he'll be exploring one minute and the next hes found a corner and has shut his eyes and gone to sleep! Hoep this helps.

Yes ,All tortoises should be given the opportunity to exercise every day.It helps with their metabolism as well as keeping them in shape.Try providing them with some large stones and small logs to climb over,they seem to love a challenge.
