Question:

I'm not sure if my water broke!?

I'm so sorry, I've been asking heaps of niggly questions lately, panicky first time mum-to-be due in a few weeks!

But I honestly don't know if my water could have broken last night. I went to bed, and woke up and it was very 'moist' down there, no mucous or anything, just wetness.

It was a moderate amount, but I really don't know as I thought it could have been sweat? I have no idea I am so confused!

Any insight? If it's any help, last night was regular temperature here, and I did a lot of walking yesterday (not with any hidden baby induction agenda, just did a lot of shopping, and wouldn't be surprised if baby started to drop!)

  1. i am 34wks an i had the same thing happen to me an then when i got out of the shower an bent over a gush came out so i panicked an when to the er stayed in hospital all day getting poked an prodded down there having tests an it was just urine...

the ob said that the baby can squash part of the bladder an so you think you dont need to go but then the baby moves an it all gushes out..

unless it keeps coming all day an it fills a pad then you may have broken your waters otherwise i would not worry

also amniotic fluid has a really sweet smell...completely dif to urine or genral down there smell

  2. Dont apologize, I also wonder so many things with this being my first as well. I kinda have the same thing going on. I don't know if its sweat, pee or discharge lol. Probably a mixture of all but it has really increased the past month or so and my doctor said it was normal. Its always worst in the morning too. So more than likely just our body heat rising and we sweat down there. If it gets really bad to where you are soaking through your pants or pads then I'd definitely let your doc know, Otherwise, no worries! Good luck!

  3. Might be a bit late with my answer, but I would not worry if I were you. Waters can break 2 ways normally - a single gush or just a steady flow, but either way it continues to re-make itself and come out, so it would continue to come out if there was a breakage or leakage.

Also, as a test, usually if you lay down (on left hand side) for a while and then get up, if you waters are broken or leaking there will be another gush as when you lay down the babies head does not block the flow whereas when you are standing the babies head can act as a semi-plug.

I hope you are ok - if you are worried put a call into your OB.

  4. if your water broke by now you would be having contractions, so calm down and try not to overthnk things and dont stress yourslef out, im happy and excited and ready to read that you have had the baby!!

  5. Honestly, I have been sweating buckets this whole pregnancy. I always feel moist and damp and wonder about the water breaking, but if it was your water you would have felt something either gush or trickle when you got out of the bed. Also, it wouldn't stop.

  6. I doubt it you kinda know when your water breaks its a big gush of water their might be the possibility you could be leaking thought but i doubt it since you say its only moist

  7. go to the hospital if you are not sure, usually wen ur waters break it is a lot of water your bed prob would have been soaked, i would just have it checked out if you are worried..

  8. Your water hasn't broken yet. When your water breaks

you will think you have just peed on yourself.  Sounds like you are starting the nest period when you rush to get

things ready for the baby. It will be any time now.

    Congratulations on your pending birth.

  9. go to the doctor and get checked out!!!

  10. Its understandable sweetie, I to am a first time mom and I have posted A BUNCH of questions. Now to your question, Most of the time I have heard that you would have a constant trickle of water, or a big gush. The best advice I can give you is to put a pad on and just moniter it, If your pad fills up or has a lot of fluid in it after about two hours than go to your doctor. You should probably also call your hospital where you are going to deliver and let them know what is going on. They might want you to come in to triage. They ahve a strip that they will put some of that fluid on a strip and it will let them know if it is amniotic fluid or not. Congratulations on your FIRST baby, i know how exciting it is! Everthing will be ok, but any HUGE concerns you should call your doctor... BEST OF LUCK!
